Description:
These professionally made, 2 meter long cables are used to connect 2 Sega Genesis or Mega Drive consoles for 2 player action. There are currently 3 games that support the link cable:
- Zero Tolerance (Genesis/Mega Drive/MiSTer)
- Beyond Zero Tolerance (32X) [cancelled game - beta available]
- Doom 32X Resurrection v2.2 (v3.1 hangs when I tested it) (32X)
Each game requires selecting multiplayer or 2 player in the settings menu. The games will wait until another console is detected before starting the system-linked session.
The original cables were made by TechnoPop exclusively for Zero Tolerance. I'm hopeful that Genesis Developers will find fun ways to work console linking into homebrew and romhacks :)
How it works:
The cable duplexes wires 7 and 9 and the games send and receive serial data between consoles communicating player position and orientation. Plug each end into the console's Player 2 port.
